With the Fiji International golf tournament now only weeks away, Nadi International Airport has been transformed to welcome guests to the world’s newest golf destination.
As part of a sponsorship with Airports Fiji Limited, the Airport is now awash with golf fever ensuring all visitors to Fiji know about our country’s newest and biggest ever sporting event.
Fiji’s own Vijay Singh features prominently in the airport display, and will be a fitting ‘welcome home’ to the former World No. 1 golfer when he sets foot back in Fiji.
In just over a few weeks time hundreds of players, officials and spectators will be arriving in Fiji from all around the world for the PGA Tour of Australasia and OneAsia golf tournament.
Offering a prize pool of FJD$1.8 million, the tournament is one of the richest sporting events ever played in the region.
Attracting Professional golfers from all over the world, the Fiji International will be shown on television in more than 40 countries.
It is hoped that the Fiji International will help bring more golf tourists to Fiji, creating more jobs and supporting the local economy.
Fiji’s own Vijay Singh and Dinesh Chand are heading home to compete in the golf tournament and will be joined by three time Major champion Nick Price and India’s top golfer Anirban Lahiri.
