Fiji 7s Coach, Ben Ryan, joins Vodafone Fiji Rugby 7s team World Champions Osea Kolinisau (Captain) and Emosi Mulevoro (Fly Half) as a Brand Ambassador for the upcoming Fiji International from October 15 – 18 at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.
Fiji Rugby Union and the Fiji International recently joined forces to promote both Golf and Rugby, increasing awareness of both sports and boosting interest.
Spectators can look forward to meeting Ryan, who will make public appearances during the tournament week, along with Kolinisau and Mulevoro at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course; giving fans a great day out at one of Fiji’s most stunning golf courses.
“I am really looking forward to attending the Fiji International this year. The event is a huge event for Fiji and really promotes golf to the global market of golf tourists,” said Ryan.
“Being a golfer myself, I can’t wait to see some of the best players in the world at Natadola and am very happy to be a brand ambassador of the Fiji International.”
“Golf and Rugby go hand in hand as a sport as they target a very similar market of sports fan so I think this cooperation between the Fiji International and Fiji Rugby is a great thing for both sports,” he said.
Fiji International General Manager, Natalie Ritter said, “Having Ben join the likes of Osea and Emosi as brand ambassadors to the Fiji International is a great thing for the event. Golf is many athletes ‘second sport’ and with the huge following that rugby has in Fiji, we are confident having Ben, Osea and Emosi as part of the Fiji International team, will increase awareness of golf as a sport in Fiji.”
Ryan, Kolinisau and Mulevoro will be testing their golfing skills in the coming weeks leading up to the tournament and will represent both sports, Golf and Rugby, in supporting the key focus of development and elite levels of sport participation across Fiji.
“Osea and Emosi have already been having some golf lessons ahead of the pro-am tournament as part of the Fiji International and they are enjoying playing golf,” said Ritter.
“Ben Ryan is also a keen golfer and we look forward to having our World Champion Fiji Rugby 7s team players and coach supporting the Fiji International for many more years.”
As the Fiji International gains momentum, with many sponsors securing their partnership with this major event, excitement and anticipation is building towards the tee off on the 15th October at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.
Fijian golf star and world ranked golfer, Vijay Singh has confirmed his participation in the over F$1,800,000 prize purse golf tournament which organisers are thrilled to announce.
