The highest ranked player in the Fiji International field at World Number 76, Korean Jeunghun Wang is bringing Major knowledge to Natadola Bay Championship Course this week.
Wang played The 146th Open Championship and 99th PGA Championship as well as the World Golf Championship – Bridgestone Invitational over the last four weeks and while the results were less than desirable for the up and coming star, he learned some valuable lessons against some of the world’s best.
“I have had the chance to play in Majors and other big events this season. I have learned a lot and I believe those experiences will help me in my game this week,” Wang said.
“I am really pleased to participate in the Fiji International this week. I am looking to play well and cap a good result before heading back to Korea for a three-week break next week.”
Thanks to the Fiji International tri-sanctioning, Wang gets the chance to re-join the Asian Tour, where he started his young career before joining the European Tour full time.
“The Asian Tour is where I started my career. It is like my home. It’s good that the Asian Tour is tri-sanctioning the event this week.
“I feel really comfortable here and I am very happy to see some of my friends here in Fiji. I will try my best to put up a good performance this week.”
The tri-sanctioning was one of the main motivators for Wang entering the Fiji International for the first time, he joins fellow Korean star Soomin Lee in the field this week.
“Like I said earlier, it’s been awhile since I last played on the Asian Tour. I thought this week will be a good chance to catch up with my friends on the Asian Tour,” Wang added.
“That’s the main reason why I decided to play this week.”
Wang tees off alongside Brett Rumford and former Masters Champion Mike Weir Thursday 9:50am.
